SUMMER OPEN STUDIO & GARDEN JUNE 2010
This is held every two years. The next one is coming soon!
The dates are Friday 11th June 1-9pm Saturday 12th June11am-5pm Sunday 13th June11-5pm)
My open studio is a wonderful event. Its a very relaxed atmosphere, with wine, home made lunches and our secluded woodland garden to enjoy!
I shall be showing my full range of jumpers, jackets and scarves.
I now work mainly in cotton which has proved very popular with customers all the year around. However I will also have the swatches of the winter wool range for you to preview!
If you would like to colour match your wardrobe with my knitwear please do bring items from your wardrobe along. I know how difficult it is to hold colours in your head, especially when confronted my huge colour range!
I shall be joined this year by my close friend and artist Stella Parslow who will be travelling up from Buckingshire to join me. Stella exhibits around the country at some of the same shows as me, so you may have seen her work there. If you would like a preview of her work please visit www.stellaparslow.co.uk
This year Stella has been working with new textures and developing a new range of abstract canvasses and flower studies.
A lot of Stella's time is now spent working closely with galleries, selected interior design companies and individual customers on bespoke designs to co-ordinate with their interiors. Prices range from £49 upwards.
So if you have a special space to fill, please bring along fabric, paint charts and furnishings as she is more than happy to work with you on your new scheme.
As well as her contemporary acrylic range Stella will be showing her limited edition giclee print range of french and italian landscapes. There will also be some pastel originals.
For those of you who have not been to my Open Studio & garden before, we live in a converted pennine summer barn on the edge of Midgley moor. Since living here we, (but mainly my husband Dai) have developed our garden which is a secluded hillside garden. It is wooded, but we still do well for colour and have mainly herbaceous borders, fruit trees and plenty of sitting places. Three years ago Dai built me a summerhouse for my 50th birthday and this has proved a very relaxing spot to watch wildlife and the garden grow!
Since the last Open Studio & garden Dai has been very busy in the garden.New borders, seating areas, vegetable plot and at last the wildlife pond( Dais 60th birthday present from me!)!!!
We can't wait to show you everything!
On Saturday and Sunday our garden and studio will be one of 18 open as part of Midgley Open gardens and studios(There are 5 new ones this year!). This will give visitors the chance to visit some very different gardens from small sheltered courtyard to top of the moor windswept gems. Some of the village gardens have amazing views and are well worth a visit just for that!
Different gardens along the trail will also be offering refreshments, plant sales and book stalls.
Admission
On Friday admission is free to our open studio. There will be wine and nibbles.
On Saturday and Sunday when we are open as part of Midgley village open gardens and studios there will be a charge per adult of £4 which admits you to all gardens and studios taking part over the week-end.Children are free.
On these days we shall be offering delicious home made lunches, wine, refreshments, home made cake for a small charge.
All money raised over the week end will go towards developing a new shop, post office and community room in the village.
So come rain or shine there will be plenty for you to enjoy at our open garden and studio this year.
But wouldn't it be so much better if we had beautiful weather so we might see the hummingbird moth again!
